Executive director of American Grassfed Association to keynote
Plans are currently underway for the annual Indiana Farmers Union (INFU) meeting, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Indiana FFA Center in Trafalgar, Ind. The free event, which is open to the public, will include refreshments throughout the day, a buffet lunch, as well as several discussion-led sessions, policy development and an INFU board meeting.
This year’s gathering will include an exploration of the current state of agriculture in America, led by Patty Edelburg, vice president of National Farmers Union. Carrie Balkcom, executive director of American Grassfed Association, will deliver the keynote address. Marty Mahan will lead a discussion on hemp, as well the latest efforts by the Indiana Farmers Union’s hemp chapter. Lastly, farmers and agriculture and environmental advocates from across the state will gather to discuss steps to promote soil health legislation in the 2020 legislative session.
About the Keynote:
As the lead certifier, educator, and marketer for real grassfed meat and dairy, AGA advocates on behalf of grassfed producers with USDA and on Capitol Hill. Raised on a Florida cattle ranch, Balkcom has spoken at, presented and coordinated numerous regional and national conferences and is well known in agricultural, culinary and sustainable agricultural circles.
